Description

The purpose of this workshop is to provide the information and tools needed to promote compliance with the 2012 Joint Commission Physical Environment standards specific to:

  • Environment of Care: Safety, Security, Hazardous Materials and Waste, Fire Safety, Medical Equipment and Utilities
  • Emergency Management
  • Life Safety

Learning Objectives:  Participants will practice problem-solving through interactive discussions, in-class exercises, homework problems and a final group project. At the end of the 3.5-day course, participants will be able to:

  • Interpret and demonstrate compliance with the Joint Commission Physical Environment Standards.
  • Recognize and counteract the pitfalls of a non-compliant program.
  • Spell out best practices for managing the EOC, Life Safety and Emergency Management Programs
  • Identify the roles of each of the Environment of Care team members
